Tasting notes:
Colour: straw
The nose suggests a refill hoggie, slightly restrained yet fragrant and fruity-sweet. Vanilla, pear juice, malt extract, peaches, sweet grapes, white chocolate and a slight hint of sweet perfume with a layer of alcohol and citrus on top. A summer dram.
On the palate we’ve got an initial malty and fruity sweetness with vanilla pudding, pear juice, canned lychee sugar juice and grape juice before the alcohol takes over. After natural dilution by saliva the sweet and fruity notes emerge again with cake icing (with a few drops of lemon) and more malt extract. A slight hint of oak in the background too. Reminds me of a light, fruity, sweet cocktail. The medium long finish has citrus and old wood notes with a malty sweetness upon swallowing, a tad more alcoholic than nose and palate. More “old/musty” oak notes towards the end – not the biggest fan of those but they do fade quickly.
Verdict:
Hmmm, well, searching for words here. A light, standard refill hoggie whisky, probably destined as blending stock, with a good measure of sweetness and fruits to make for a nice daily dram especially on a hot summer day. It is “just” good, quaffable whisky, works for me!
